GOD IS MOVING
GOD IS MOVING
We exist to honor God by helping as many people as possible become fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
TO HONOR GOD: Our efforts, communications, the response of the church, and the potential success/failure of this campaign are all secondary to honoring God during this time.
BY HELPING AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE: This is not about a leader or small group of people. It is about our community and a city that needs the life-saving message of Christ.
BECOME FULLY-DEVOTED FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST: We hope this campaign is spiritually nourishing to the people of Hope. God can use this season of fundraising to deepen our trust in him.
With these in mind, the mission needs to be funded. Funds are not the point of church ministry, but funds are needed to facilitate church ministry. Specifically, additional finances are needed to preserve our two historic buildings and sustain ministry momentum without distraction or delay for the next season. God is moving!
“GOD IS MOVING!”
Dr. Bill Berg was a former pastor of Augustana Lutheran Church, which formerly owned the building now known as Hope East. When our two churches conversed about selling their building to Hope, Pastor Berg’s story was shared and his legend grew. This man, at 101 years of age, still passionately loved and preached Jesus! So it was an honor when he charged Hope Community Church, in a ceremony that included both congregations, with carrying the baton of gospel ministry to the next generation. It was in this sermon that his voice thundered, “We’re not moving. God is moving!” And that same faith, passion, and spirit remain within our church today.
We believe that God’s not done moving!

GOD IS MOVING
FUNDRAISING NEEDS
GOD IS MOVING
God is moving in the very sanctuary where we gather each Sunday. New people are coming to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. Listen to what Julie, attending since late November 2023, had to say: “I have been praying a long time to find a church that just spoke God’s Word, and not religious stuff. My husband and I stayed away from church for a long time. Religion really messed me up for most of my life, but all I desire is to grow in Christ my Savior! I have been so happy attending this church.”
We want people, just like Julie, to have the chance to meet and worship Jesus. So we’re committed to outfitting our sanctuary in a manner that is conducive to worship. This means aesthetics (what we see!) and it means eletronics (what we hear!). Whether it’s a burned out light bulb, a crackling microphone, or a worn out drum head, we want to remove technical obstacles which could unnecessarily distract from the message of Jesus. Funding this part of the mission is a means to an end and that great end is worship of God for everyone that enters this space!
God is moving in these buildings we’ve been given. Some might view these buildings built in the 1800s as a liability given the age and maintenance required to keep them operational. But we consider them a gift! And we love it when our buildings get used. Jordan, our facilities manages, said, “Our buildings are getting used more now than in any other time in my tenure at Hope; they are consistently occupied from 8am to 9pm, Sunday through Thursday, along with the spattering of weekend events.” Wow!
The stewardship of these buildings matters for the sake of what God is doing. Ministry has been thriving. We’re so thankful! Coming out of the last several years there were many more questions than answers. We’ve seen God move in fantastic ways. Unfortunately, our needs have exceeded our current capacity in several areas whether due to limitations, repairs, or necessary updates. We aim to remove obstacles out of the way as soon as possible. We want ministry to thrive without distraction or delay. The raising of these funds will allow our staff and leaders to focus on the critical work of gospel ministry.
God is moving in our city. We are reaching out to our Partner Ministries to assess needs and consider how we might bless them. In every financial campaign in Hope’s history, we have committed to looking beyond our needs in order to see those around us. Why? Because God saw our need and responded. So as we raise funds for some of our own needs, we aim to show and share God’s love with those around us. We will update you as soon as opportunities solidify!
God is moving around the world! This last year, we had the joy of sending two families on separate occasions to visit and encourage our global missionaries. There were amazing stories of how God is working, while simultaneously being aware of the deep struggles and hardships these global church planters face. We learned that roughly 12,000 missionaries leave the field each year. It’s a staggering statistic given the amount of time and resources that went into preparations and the heartache that can follow. We have a unique opportunity to help aid this missionary attrition crisis. Our dream is to utilize and renovate this parsonage building into a ministry respite house, able to serve and provide a place of rest for missionaries back on furlough.
The purchase price reflected below will give us 100% ownership and occupancy of the parsonage. Additionally, new spaces open up for our use. And we want to turn them into appealing venues for Hope’s ministry needs including an additional meeting room and patio atop the gym.
