Living as Sent People

For me, being sent looks like living as a 27 year old married engineer in a house that we own in the suburbs. And if I would have read that about myself seven years ago, I’m not sure I would have even considered that “being sent”. Which I think gets at the biggest lie I believed about “being sent” – that you had to be a vocational missionary and/or go to another country to be sent.

In reality, God calls us to live as “sent” people regardless of where we are at and what we are doing.

Some of the important roles and responsibilities I have now are that of: husband, neighbor, employee, etc. And God has lots to say in Scripture of how to live as a sent person in those roles.

So “being sent” for me involves asking myself questions like, “How am I loving my wife (Ephesians 5:25-33)? How am I loving my neighbors (Luke 10:25-37)? How am I serving God in the way I work (Colossians 3:23-24)?
