Baptism of Eric Deutsch

Before coming to know Christ, I spent my entire life doing my very best to fit in and be accepted and loved. I also spent my life failing miserably at this. I went to church growing up but it never really had any meaning to me. It was just something I did on Sundays because my parents wanted me to. But I became tired of trying to do everything on my own and feeling like my life was pointless with no hope, and I wanted to feel loved. Coming into college I told myself that I was either going to drop this whole Christian act I had been putting on for the past few years or actually became a Christian and make it the center of my life. I prayed for the first time that if God was real to just show me and make himself known. About a month into school I talked to a friend who was a Christian about my interest in becoming a Christian and the questions I had. Talking to him really helped me understand that Jesus was exactly what I needed. He told me about Hope and encouraged me to check it out. After going a few times I made the decision to give my life to Christ. In the past year that I have followed Jesus, my joy for life has skyrocketed because of the joy I have in Christ. I don’t fight for acceptance and love from other people because I know God already has that covered for me. And I don’t stress about what I’m doing with my life because God knows where I’m going.

The bible verse that I always go back to is Joshua 1:9 which states, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” I really like this verse because it is a constant reminder to not worry or be afraid of the future because no matter what happens God is always right by my side. I want to get baptized because I want to officially and publicly declare to my family and friends that I am a follower of Christ. Now that I’ve been a Christian for a little over a year, I am so excited to be able to get baptized and proclaim my love for Christ!
