As a Worship Team, we believe that God’s greatness and goodness compel us to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Worship through song is one of the ways that the church has historically gone about doing that, and so at Hope, we respond to God through congregationally singing every week.

Further, it is the duty of the Worship Team to follow the model of God’s creational artistic example by striving to create accessible, authentic, (and sometimes provocative!) musical art. In Psalm 33, the psalmist implores Israel, “Sing to [the Lord] a new song; play skillfully and shout for joy.” We strive for excellence in our musical aesthetics because we, as the new covenant people of God, are also charged with the responsibility to ‘play skillfully.’

Ultimately, it is our hope that everything we do would be a pointer to God, who is the author of truth and beauty. As a Worship Team, it is our purpose and vision to help more and more people at Hope develop a robust understanding of what it means to be worshipers of the one true and living God, that we may all put that understanding into regular practice.
